In 2019 a survey found an average consumer would throw away 70 pounds of clothing per year. Globally we produce a total of 13 million tons of textile waste each year 95% of which could be reused or recycled…

The best way to reduce this waste is to buy quality garments and take care of them.

Here are a few tips on how to reduce your clothing waste:
- Make your clothes last longer by washing in lower temperatures and repair when possible.
- Buy Quality Garments that are made well. Your coffee habit should not be more expensive than your clothes.
- Save up to buy a couple of nice things, try not to fall for cheap fast fashion.
- Donate Clothes
- If you are located in the Northeast U.S., check out Helpsy, an organization whose main mission is to keep clothing out of landfills. They can help determine if your used clothing can be reused, recycled, or downcycled and will help do it.
Intimates Care (Bras or anything with Lace)
We recommend hand washing in cool water and air-dry. Not only does this ensure a longer life to your intimates but you are using less energy and water, better for the planet, bills, and your garments. We recommend using a gentle detergent, click here for a detergent we recommend that is great for delicate things. High heat is not good for the lace or elastic you find on intimate products.
If you do wash in a washer make sure it’s with cool water in a garment bag.
Lounge & Baby
For all our Rayon/Span products (summer knit 2020 collection) we recommend washing in cold water and laying flat to dry. Spandex/ Lycra/Elastane is stretchy and putting it in high heat can reduce how long it lasts.
